Welcome To Our Practice William Shim, MD, is an experienced rheumatologist who provides outstanding care at the Center of Arthritis & Rheumatism Endeavor in Tampa, Florida. Dr. Shim takes a personal approach to patient care, utilizing the most advanced treatments available. After earning a Bachelor of Science in Biology at George Washington University in Washington, D.C., Dr. Shim pursued his medical education at the American University of the Caribbean, School of Medicine in Cupecoy, Sint Maarten. Dr. Shim completed his transitional internship at Yale New Haven St. Raphael Hospital in New Haven, Connecticut, affiliated with Yale University School of Medicine. He continued his internal medicine residency training at the Medical College of Pennsylvania/Hahnemann University School of Medicine (now the Drexel College of Medicine) in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Dr. Shim then completed an internal medicine clinical fellowship at the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) in Bethesda, Maryland, which is part of the National Institutes of Health (NIH). From there, Dr. Shim completed his rheumatology fellowship at the National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases (NIAMS), also located in Bethesda and part of the NIH. After completing his medical training, Dr. Shim served as a consultant for NIAMS and the NIH. He was also a clinical professor and dean’s counsel at George Washington University School of Medicine. Before opening his practice in 2002, Dr. Shim was chief of the Rheumatology Department at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Augusta, Maine. At the Center of Arthritis & Rheumatism Endeavor, Dr. Shim provides high-quality, compassionate care for various conditions, including Rheumatoid arthritis, Psoriatic arthritis, Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE), Ankylosing Spondylitis, IBD-associated arthritis, and Osteoporosis.
